Lack of Knowledge Leads Many to Diabetes
Isn't it ironic that those people most likely to develop diabetes for genetic reasons are the ones who know the least about diabetes.
What happens is people who don't know much about diabetes risk factors aren't screened properly and many times develop the disease and have it for awhile before being diagnosed with diabetes. This leads to complications.

Diabetes Raises Heart Risk for Women
It's long been known that having diabetes makes you more likely to have heart disease and other illnesses. Now a study specifically target to women has confirmed that women who suffer diabetes nearly triple their risk of developing heart disease.
Just one more reason to try to avoid diabetes by improving your diet and excercising more.

Those home blood sugar tests are racking up the revenue for companies who make products aimed at monitoring diabetes. In fact, it is estimated that by 2008, sales of diabetes monitoring products and treatments will be almost $18 Billion Per Year.

Transplanted Tissue Shows Promise In Reducing Insulin Shots
Reuters is reporting a new study that shows promise for diabetes patients who must take insulin shots. In clinical trials, doctors transplanted cells the produce insulin and the patient involved was able to go an entire year without taking insulin shots!

Eating Fiber May Ward Off Diabetes or at least help keep it in check. Consuming lots of fiber, as part of a healthy diet also keeps your blood sugar and cholesterol in line. But it's tough when you have a sweet tooth. I know moderation is the key to everything, but sometimes nothing is as filling as a piece of bread!
